So I just visited my parents' house and found my old gameboy pocket with my pokemon blue version in it in my old bed room. After swapping out the batteries, I was surprised to find that not only did my game boy still work, but the cartridge had held up my save from 1998. While I was there, I also found my old PSP which still worked and I downloaded GPSP on it and uploaded Fire Red, Ash Gray, and Liquid Crystal. Now I'm not sure who remembers this but when Silver/Gold first came out it was a huge leap forward in the pokemon games because we played through this entire Johto league, and just when you think you're finished you rediscover pallet town and the kanto region.
With this expectation in mind, Ruby and Sapphire were pretty much let-downs and that's where I stopped playing pokemon games some twelve years ago. But anyways, now I'm interested again and I'm looking for the game that Ruby/Sapphire should've been with three regions and 24(?) gym leaders that is lore-friendly to the pokemon universe. Honestly I'd just about go for a pokemon emerald version but with the Johto and Kanto maps included. Does anyone know of one like this?

EDIT: GBA Rom plz. You might as well ask for a working fusion reactor that pumps out free energy while you're at it. But sarcasm aside, it hasn't been done yet for some reason. Weird, right?
Most decent completed/nearly there hacks are focused on OC regions, copying the anime (god, why?) doing Gen 2 in Gen 3, revamping existing regions (guilty), etc etc etc. I mean, I'd love to be the guy who does Hoenn to Kanto with the Sevii Islands too; even factoring in the existing map pack for Johto in Fire Red you need to map Hoenn-ALL of Hoenn-from scratch, two regions of scripting, encounters, and then there's only like 700 something trainers native to the Fire Red rom. (I'm sure there's a way to expand that to make more, I'm just not personally versed in ASM)-and if you want Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn MINIMUM you're going to be spacing them very sparsely after factoring both Elite Fours, 24 Gym Leaders, Rival variations, 3 Champions, and the evil team(s) It's too much for one person, and there's no point.
Why not just play through Elegant Emerald, Omega Fire Red, and Storm Silver/Sacred Gold? But how hard is it to clone and port all the resources from Emerald in to Fire Red? Aren't they built off of the same graphics and platform? I imagine it's pretty much as simple as copy + pasting and then just tethering and refining the edges so that they fit together as one seamless game.
I wouldn't even care honestly if it were reverse-engineered from emerald and wasn't refined- just leave all the NPC dialgoue options in Johto and Kanto from a game like Liquid Crystal and boost the gym leaders' pokemon but other than that give no context for an overarching story and make Gold the pokemon league champ. Just make Johto and Kanto regions where you can catch pokemon and fight gym leaders. Those of us who played blue and red don't need much to make us happy. Idk what the differences in engines between FR and E are, but IIRC FR/LG were built off of Emerald.

What I'd do if I were making this project is I would take the existing Johto maps resource in FR as my base and then make the Hoenn maps in it. Afterwards the completed 3 region rom can be turned into a patch and uploaded as a resource for those who want to try to hack the three regions. I understand story being secondary to the novelty of 3 regions, but what's the point of a novelty? Even Drayano had to stick some contextual dialogue into his hacks in order for certain things to make sense.
You're asking for the moon when the desert is already here. I would infer from the tone of your post that you were replying to me; in the future, I would suggest you do so directly.
Drayano's hacks are ONLY QOL hacks. So simple that anyone could make them, it's just that Drayano's are the first, the best, and at this point he's kind of a brand in the tiny hacking community.
Liquid Crystal is frankly one of the worse hacks. It's got all the hallmarks of bad hacking, like donut steele characters, unnecessary extra evil teams and rivals, seemingly random and directionless events, and it's gone 2 years without an update while still soaking donations. That's because it's 2 people doing it, two people with lives who can't finish an ambitious project they started when (presumably) they had much more passion and free time. And it wasn't bigger or more ambitious than 3 regions. They changed tilesets, mapped Johto, and then scripted and added events-which is really all you need (and not even tilesets) to hack. Do you really think the Kanto that exists in LC is the same Kanto from FR?
Look, if you think you could make a 3 region gen 3 game, why don't you? I've thought about it a couple times but I'm currently entrenched in my own project. And hell, maybe someone is! Maybe there's a person or a team waiting until they've got a playable alpha to launch their Gen 3-3 Region extravaganza.
Or maybe not, maybe nobody in the thousand or so strong community of hackers wants to commit to it. It's simple to make in theory, but in execution it's a pretty big project.
